Broadly, these cover off the basics of creating an SEO Strategy, from researching your markets to getting some technical basics and content creation right. They’re not intended to give every single answer, but if you have some marketing / technical / development experience, they should be enough to get you started. You don’t need to do all of these things brilliantly, however, you should aim to give them a go, and try to do them slightly better than your competitors. This version is mainly text. Once done, you can use it to start building out the content topics and structure for your website. Basic SEO Competitor Analysis The first steps in understanding your ranking competitors and what your business competitors are up to. Gives valuable insights to use for metrics, site design and structure, as well as giving ideas for content development. Basic Goal Setting & Monitoring If you set goals for your SEO campaigns and then monitor progress, it really helps you to achieve the outcomes you want. Basic SEO Content Planning This kicks off the process of planning your content using your Keyword Research and Competitor Research. Basic SEO Information Architecture If you structure your site into content silos, with key landing pages, secondary and supporting pages with structured internal linking, you will find your site easier to navigate with a better user experience and better rankings. Basic Google Search Console / Webmaster Tools Find out how to get set up with Google Search Console, so you can really understand how Google is crawling and indexing your site. Basic Robots.txt Using this little file will control whether or not googlebot and others crawl your pages of content. Basic XML Sitemaps for SEO These XML Sitemaps will really help Google and others to find new, or modified, content, crawl it and index it. Basic SEO Meta Tags These are the very basics of on-page meta structure and optimisation. Basic HTML Heading Tags These are the first steps in on-page content structure and optimisation for SEO. Basic SEO Internal Linking The information will help you in linking your content together to give great architecture, usability as well as optimisation, and rankings. Basic Body Content These are the initial steps in creating valuable content for users and optimisation. Basic Page Inclusions & Structure This is a brief guide to what each page on a website must have, should have and would be nice to have. It also give a nominal basic structure of a webpage. Basic Link Building, External Linking & Mentions Everyone needs links! These are the initial steps in generating links and mentions from other websites.
