Google To Crack Down on AMP Spammers

In a continuation of the traditional cat & mouse game of search, Google is about to put a stop to those sites which put teaser content up on AMP pages, rather than the same content as the canonical URL. Oddly, they are giving three month's notice of the change. Possibly this is because some of the offenders are their new best mates, the big news publishers. Python SEO URL Checker for Canonicals & Redirects

So, I got really bored and frustrated checking a bunch of domains for a client to see if their domains 301 redirected all variants from http to https and from non-www to www. There are only so many times you can type: curl -I http://domain.com Using my limited knowledge of Python, I crafted this simple little script to do the leg work for me and report back its findings in a readable format which can be slapped straight into an email that even devs can understand (j/k). #SEO #SEOTools #Python #CanonicalURLs #Redirects

iOS11 Will Link to AMP’s Canonical URL

I'm really pleased this annoying little glitch is being fixed. It will make sharing AMP pages a lot cleaner as the share recipients will get the lovely desktop / mobile version, rather than the slightly less beautiful, but fast AMP version.
