It’s all money, money, money this week with X and Meta going pay-to-play in different ways; Google upsetting some people with auto GA4 setup before bringing it home with a handy ecommerce report; and finally some useful insights on Landing Page Optimisation from the Think with Google team, just in time for the Spending Season. What an exciting AI filled week it’s been. Just like many other weeks recently. Some brands are now blocking GPTBot (until offered cash, no doubt), Lyft is slapping ads into its app, Meta is being useful, Google is actually stopping UA processing (sniff), and there’s been another Google Core Update to pontificate over. Interested? Dive in for more.
This week turned into a bit of an AI-Google fest, blathering on about the challenges of controlling AI access to your hard-crafted content, vs Google wanting full access. There are also changes to FAQ & How To's on the SERP, presumably due to spam, some sage advice re content pruning, and a good guide to AI-driven PMax Google Ads campaigns. Read it and educate yourself ;-)
This week: Google doesn’t shut something down for once; X, TikTok and Meta do surprising things; Google Business gets shown a bit of love; Generative Search gives some crumbs of exposure for its content-pilfering; and YouTube releases some interesting research which says (shock) people love video. Charming, exciting and annoying all in one handy readable post. Read on and enjoy.
Another week, almost another plethora of AI-generated articles talking about AI. Luckily, I saved you from that with some news about TikTok shopping, the coming GA4 anapocalypse, and some funy-dunky ski goggles from Apple. Oh, and a couple of articles about AI, admittedly. You can't have everything. Read it now and... Like, Share and Follow :-)
Some JB updates to kick February off in style: Google is ditching Optimize, it may be rolling functionality into GA4, Zuck is becoming Mr Efficiency, Ads add Negatives at Account Level, Local Reviews are important (and not), Short Form Video is where it's at for 2023. You'd better believe it baby.
AI content is all the rage this week - with people literally raging at it; Apple is re-launching its Business Connect as Maps gets usable; Data will be quite important this year as cookies fade away; PPC still needs basic attention and GA4 gets more dimensions for ecommerce. Let's get into it, shall we?
JB's update this week brings you: The Metaverse is in the news as some people have heard of it; GA4 (beta) adds old metrics as new ones, your homepage is terrifically important; Microsoft and Twitter both make a play for expanded ad options and business. All lovingly commented on by your genial host, JB. Read it now.
