'Tis the season to go shopping, tra-la-la-la-la-la. Meta, Google and YouTube have all launched new things to help businesses sell this holiday season. Google Business Profile gains an image edit thingie, and we'd better enjoy it all because there's a recession and hard work coming in 2023.

Local SEO Ranking Factors: Reviews Most Important

2018-10-19T13:57:31+11:00Categories: SEO News, SEO Tutorials|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Honestly, you wait ages for a major SEO Ranking Factors study and then two come along at once: this one is a good one on Local SEO Ranking Factors.  Somewhat unsurprisingly, it finds that Reviews (and websites!) are the most important local SEO Ranking Factors. It's not quite as contentious as another recent study... Read more in this extract from TWIS SEO News & Updates w/e 17th November 2017. #SEO #SEONews #LocalSEO #Reviews #RankingFactors

Google Posts Impact Rankings

2017-11-09T07:07:25+11:00Categories: SEO News|Tags: , , , , |

I'm coming round to Google Posts & have been recommending clients try them for a while. I think it's an interesting outcome that using Google Posts currently appears to give you a minor local ranking boost. I wouldn't expect this to last long however. Just one more reason to give them a go, especially if you run specials, or any events. Google My Business Posts API Added

2018-10-17T16:53:35+11:00Categories: SEO News|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

I'm really pleased that Google has finally added Posts to the GMB API. It makes them useful at last. It's partly due to the way of rolling out projects, and partly due to Google being a bit silly at times. Either way, I think these Google Posts have a real opportunity to help webmasters gain more SERP real estate, and increase click-throughs and action. Google SEO Update Possum Rolled Back

2018-10-19T14:17:40+11:00Categories: SEO News|Tags: , , , , , , |

I love it when a Google update rolls back and people get re-listed. A year after rolling out, the Google Local Possum Update has reversed for a bunch of filtered businesses. If you're still affected then you need to do something about it, now don't you? *cough* virtual offices. New: Edit Google My Business Listings Directly In Search

2017-09-13T20:34:19+10:00Categories: SEO News|Tags: , , , , |

I love this new feature from Google! At last you can edit your Google My Business listing directly in search. You can't edit everything, and you need to be logged in to the right account. This is a really good way to reduce friction for keeping Google listings up-to-date and correct. Google Says “Near Me” Near Dead

2017-09-07T21:17:27+10:00Categories: SEO News|Tags: , , , , , |

Have you seen the picture of the Denver business with "near me" in its name? The lengths people will go to in order to rank for "near me" searches. Well, they will be very annoyed by this piece, from TWIS SEO News & Updates w/e 01 September 2017. It's all about how Google stats show usage of "near me" and other location modifiers is dropping proportionally vs bare searches. Now, back to optimising Aaaaardvaaaark Plumbers for the new world of search. #SEO #SEONews #LocalSEO #GoogleLocal #KeywordResearch #MobileSearch
